Review: P.S. I Like You By Kasie West

Synopsis:

Signed, sealed and delivered…

While spacing out in Chemistry class, Lily scribbles some of her favorite song lyrics onto her desk. The next day, she finds that someone has continued the lyrics on the desk and added a message to her. Intrigue!

Soon, Lily and her anonymous pen pal are exchanging full-on letters-sharing secrets, recommending bands, and opening up to each other. Lily realises she’s kind of falling for this letter writer. Only, who is he? As Lily attempts to unravel the mystery and juggle school, friends, crushes, and her crazy family, she discovers that matters of the heart can’t always be spelled out….

Review:

I was expecting a breezy and a quick read. But what I didn’t expect was a heartwarming story full of depth. The book features a good family dynamic, close friendships and a beautifully-woven love story. It involves a (kinda) enemies-to-lovers trope and though I haven’t read stories with such a trope earlier,I really liked the way the trope was handled in the book. I was totally invested in the story and finished the book in less than three days. Quite a feat for me, since I am a slow reader. I found the main character very relatable. This is also my first book that I’ve read of Kasie West and I must say I really enjoyed her writing. It was simple but engaging. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

What about you? Have you read any of Kasie West’s books? Let me know your thoughts below!

  1. I haven’t read any of Kasie West’s books! The idea of writing notes to someone you don’t know reminds me of Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan — have you read it? 😀 I feel like I’ve read and watched a lot of enemies-to-lovers books/shows, so that trope doesn’t stick out to me very much, but if I find myself in need of a light read when I’m in a reading slump, I’ll keep this book in mind!
